This is the Lumiere Film that Billel, Justin and I wrote and shot. It is done in the style of the Lumiere Brothers – no sound, no editing, and 1-minute long. It tells the story of a business man on his lunch break. Typically, business must be professional, but when the tie is loosened, the true “fiend” within is unleashed. Enter a beautiful woman, who sits next to him at the lunch area of his office building, and all of a sudden is becomes overly aggressive in trying to court her. She tries to get away, but a professional not acting professional is hard to get rid of.
This is also an homage to any man who has ever tried to woo a woman – it’s not easy. Clearly, this method is not the best, but at least he tried. We did five takes, and the last one was the best, since it was exactly one minute and (we felt) the best acted. Takes 1-4 were too short from our original idea, so we kept adding new dimensions to the film as the shooting went along.
We are all very proud of this film.
Special thanks to my friend Elsha who agreed to help with the film and portray the unfortunate woman in the film.
